2 Timothy 4:13 “The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.”
We closed on the sale of our home Friday, put most of our remaining stuff in storage and moved into our temporary rent home until will move to Honduras full time in December. I am amazed at how the little things accumulate. I am just reminded about the Bible truth that says we can’t take it with us into the next life. Pray for us that we will be able to quickly go through the remaining things to winnow out the rest of the things we need to let go of.
In the scripture above, the Apostle Paul benefited from the service of brother Carpus to guard some of his possessions. The “parchments” were the most precious of all it seems and I think we need to recognize that Carpus was guarding some of the Holy Scriptures and we are receiving a benefit from this service every time we read our Bible. I have a small library of books that I plan to send to Honduras to use in the ministry. Couldn’t we all use someone like Carpus to take care of something precious that belongs to us while we travel, knowing that it’s guarded in safe and loyal hands? Lord Jesus please send me a Carpus as I think I may have a few things to leave to lighten our load. Thank you in advance.
