4/10/2016 Clean Vessels (2 Cor. 7:1)

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” 2 Corinthians 7:1

What a week!  Ephesians 6:12 tells us that our battle is in the spiritual realm.  Things that go on in the physical realm are connected to the spiritual.  While praying last week for insight towards ministry here, the verse 2 Cor. 7:1 came up strongly.   Let me briefly discuss this verse.  A person who has experienced genuine repentance and begun a new life in Christ should then become active in removing all sin and the appearance of sin from their lives.  Many are led in a prayer and perhaps baptized and told they are now going to heaven, when in reality, they are not really saved because they have not had genuine repentance.   After genuine repentance, we willingly and proactively must avoid sinful things and pursue godly things.  When this is our state of being, then we are prepared to have the Spirit of the Lord Jesus come and dwell in our hearts.  What we observe here in Honduras and have been told is that many who lay claims to Christ do not have a life that testifies of Christ.  Our work this week was to be used of the Lord to expose sin. We did not go hunting for this, but it came to us.

The use of social media is one of the biggest problems that Christian’s face. It is as if just having it is the sin itself, but by using it you see not only less than godly standards of supposed Christians, but things that are abominable to God.  It’s not God’s plan for us, so we refrain from it.

We’re in position to be used of God to help bring higher standards to this school.  I have come to understand that our timing in coming to this ministry is at a key point to change curriculum as well.  It’s actually not uncommon for Christian schools outside the US not to have Christian curriculum and that is mostly because of the costs.  I am putting together a budget for the school and praying we can see it happen.

Please pray for us to be protected from the criminal activity.  We have some gang wars that are affecting the city.  It’s so serious that in some of the neighborhoods last night anyone that went out of their house after 6PM would have been shot.  These criminals almost always make good on their threats. If you would like more specific details as to how to pray for us, please send me a message through the “Contact” page.  Blessings!
